In diesem Konzert treffen zwei der innovativsten europäischen Musiker aufeinander. Der für seine Improvisationen legendäre Saxophonist Evan Parker spielt im Duett mit Joel Ryan, einem Vorreiter der elektronischen Live-Musik und digitalen Signalverarbeitung akustischer Instrumente in Realzeit. So begegnen sich zwei unterschiedliche Herangehensweisen an Improvisation und verschmelzen zu einem Instrument mit zwei Spielern.
Evan Parker hat seit den 1970ern in unterschiedlichen Formationen gespielt, u.a. mit der Music Improvisation Company, dem Globe Unity Orchestra und Alexander von Schlippenbachs Trio und Quartett. Joel Ryan ist Pionier der Anwendung digitaler Signalverarbeitung auf akustische Instrumente. Er ist Researcher im STEIM in Amsterdam und hat u.a. die Musik für William Forsythes EIDOS/TELOS komponiert. |
This concert sees the meeting of two of the most innovative European musicians. Saxophonist Evan Parker, famous for his legendary improvisations, will play alongside Joel Ryan, a pioneer of electronic live music and digital signal processing in real time. Two widely-differing approaches to improvisation meet and melt into one instrument with two players.
Since the 1970s, Evan Parker has been playing in various formations, including the Music Improvisation Company, the Globe Unity Orchestra and Alexander von Schlippenbach's trio and quartet.
Joel Ryan is a pioneer in the use of digital signal processing on acoustic instruments. He is a researcher at STEIM in Amsterdam and his composition credits include the music for William Forsythe's EIDOS/TELOS. |
