Reggie Wilson verarbeitet in seinen Choreografien die spirituelle Tradition Afrikas und das Leben in der afrikanischen Diaspora. Sein Solo ist eine Mischung aus Reiseerzählung, anthropologischer Studie und Lecture/Demonstration. In "Introduction" verfolgt er die Spur der Black Church zurück nach Afrika und sucht nach Kontinuitäten und Resten afrikanischer Rituale in den Bewegungen der christlichen schwarzen Prediger in den Südstaaten der USA.
1989 gründete der US-amerikanische Choreograf und Performer Reggie Wilson die Fist & Heel Performance Group. Wilson arbeitet mit afro-amerikanischer Spiritual-, Blues- und Sklavenkultur, die er für seinen "post-afrikanischen/Modern Dance" oder "Neo-hoodoo dance" mit postmodernen Elementen kombiniert. |
Reggie Wilson's choreographies incorporate the spiritual traditions of Africa and the life of the African diaspora. His solo is a combination of travelogue, lay anthropology, and lecture/ demonstration. In "Introduction" he follows the trail of the Black Church back to Africa and looks for continuities and remnants of African rituals in the movements of black preachers in the southern states of the United States.
